Eating Responsibly essay Day 1

Big Idea: What does food tell us about ourselves.

Reading: You will read your independent reading book for ten minutes. You should finish your next book by March 18th.

  2. Essay Topic: 
    1. In response to the many articles you read in this module, write an essay in which you argue how you can "eat more responsibly. In this essay, describe the changes you can make to you food habits. Discuss what kinds of food you will buy for yourself and your family members, where you will buy it, and how you will prepare it. How can you be more aware of what you eat? In addition to references to one or more of the four articles, support your food plan with logical arguments and evidence.
  3. English Journal: Eating Responsibly essay
    1. Brain storm ways to eat more responsibly
    2. Copy down the two model intro paragraphs that I provided for you.

Organic Food Hoax Day 2

    1. We will jigsaw this article.
      1. You will then meet with main group and share out what your reading group came up with. Students in your main group must annotate the article using the information you give them.
        1. Identify two sentences they should underline.
        2. Tell your group two ideas they should annotate on the left side of the article.
        3. Have your group write one question about your section.
  2. Rhetorical Precis for the article in your English Journal.
  3. Work on your new vocabulary unit.
